Q01: The RAW file is a .NEF file for you to edit to your liking. The fee per file is £30.00. If you wish to go down that road please ask for my account details to make a bank transfer. When you have made payment for the order, send me an email(using the Contact form) with what you want to order (Bloggs-Joe-1234-5678) and I will execute the order forthwith.
01a: The RAW file can be used for personal use on your website, social media and may be used by LOCAL and Community newspapers, with the byline, www.kimroy-photography.co.uk, without further fees. The RAW file MAY NOT be published in a National Newspaper, Magazine, Book or Television without a further fee being negotiated. If these conditions are not adhered to, you, the original purchaser of the file will be liable for any additional fees, which could run into several hundreds of pounds sterling. If the image is offered to any National Newspaper or magazine they must contact Kimroy Photography, 0114 287 9319 before the image is published to agree on a fee.
01b: If you order RAW files, make sure you have the software that can process them. There is no refund if you cannot process the RAW files.
01c: If images are lifted off the website without permission or payment, that is theft and you will have the choice of paying £40 for each image you steal or you can opt for a County Court hearing. If you refuse to pay voluntarily, by default you are opting for a County Court hearing.
01d: Raw files, because of their size will not be available for instant download. The files will be sent, after payment is received, via www.wetransfer.com from whom you will receive an email with a download link.
01e: Payment will be made via a Bank Transfer, the details of which will be sent to you when you order a RAW file.
01f: If you wish to use the file for commercial purposes, click the Extended Licence bullet for information. Failure to adhere to the law recently cost an international company (NOT a client of mine) £60,000 for copyright infringement!
Q02: Are you a professional photographer?
Yes, I have been a professional photographer since 1972. At present, I am the official photographer for both CTT and VTTA. I attend all the CTT championships and Time Trial Series and all The VTTA championships when they don't clash with CTT events.
Q03: How many photographers do you have?
I do not employ any photographers. It is always li'll' ol' me, Brian Jones, that attends an event.
Q04: Can I download the digital files I have purchased?
Yes, digital files have an instant download facility. You will receive an email with a download link. You can also download them by visiting your Profile page.
Q05: Are all the images on this site copyrighted?
Yes, all the images and intellectual rights are owned by Brian Jones. If you acquire an image without paying it is an infringement of my copyright and therefore illegal. It is a criminal, not civil, offence. Illegal copying of my or anyone else's copyright material is stealing their income. See 01c above. You may be prosecuted by the Police and receive a criminal record and/or by a County Court Summons and receive a CCJ, neither of which will enhance your prospects for procuring mortgages, bank loans etc. Copyright remains with the owner's estate for 70 years after the owner's death.
Q06: Do you crop images?
Yes, if I am producing prints. I usually crop images to position the subject compositionally "correct" within the frame. Although I try to get this right in the camera, many factors preclude that from happening. Strong winds, buffeting me, more than one rider approaching me at a time and the camera flitting from one rider to another, traffic getting in the way! etc.
Q06A: Do you crop images?
Digital images are not cropped, they are as they come out of the camera. It is up to you to crop as you wish. See Q19.
Q06B: Please be aware that the smallest image, now referred to as an Avatar image, CANNOT be enlarged without drastically losing quality. That's the nature of digital images.
Q07: Do you print your photographs?
Yes, I print all my work up to 42 inches wide. Up to 10x8 inches are printed on one of two Dye Sublimation printers, depending on the size print. Up to 42 inches wide are printed on a £4000 high-end Ink Jet Printer. Mugs etc are printed with a dedicated inkjet printer using special (and very expensive) inks. I have a total of six printers for the various types of prints required.
Q08: What happens if I don't like the image supplied?
I hope this doesn't arise! I cannot make amends if you just don't like how you look. You will have seen the image on the website and therefore you know how you look. If the image lacks focus I will have either told you about this or will have supplied the requested image together with a sharp image. If the image is slightly blurred because of the speed you were travelling, this is a function of sports photography.
Q09: Do you offer discounts for multiple images?
There are packages available on the site. eg 4 Digital images, £20. That is 4 images of any size image! What a bargain?
Q10: Do you not go to an event you are booked to attend if the weather is bad?
I have not attended an event because of rain, wind or scorching sunshine! There have been, since 1972, three events that I can recall, that I did not make it to the event, all related to car failures. One fire, one failed fan belt, and one total electrical failure. I have had many a soaking, sometimes for up to five hours. I have "lost" two camera bodies due to water getting into the body and frying the mainboard.
Q11: How many photos have you taken?
Since 1972, when I became a professional photographer, I have taken more than 3 million photographs. That makes for one very fit index finger on my right hand!!
Q12: Do you use film or digital cameras?
Until 2001 I used film exclusively. Shooting with Mamiya330, Bronica, RolleiFlex, Nikon and Leica. I bought my first digital camera in 2001, a Fuji S1, since then I have "upgraded" through a series of 6 Nikon bodies. I now shoot with Nikon D5 with a second Nikon D5 body as a backup.
Q13: Do you keep your images on file?
Yes, all the images I take are stored. from 2003 to the present day I can search a rider by name, although I had a double hard drive failure in 2005, the master and the backup failed within hours of each other(!) and I lost a lot of 2005 images. Currently, I have approximately 30TB of storage. Before 2003 > 2001 I didn't add the rider's name to the files. The cycling related film negatives go back to 1994 but that is a very time-consuming task to find a rider. Although, in those days I used to send order forms to the event secs that had each rider's image on and a reference number. If you have one of those, there is no problem in finding the relative negative.
Q14: Which digital image do I need?
All digital image downloads are currently 300 ppi, so they can be used for any application. They are available, however, in various pixel dimensions. See Q19.
If you ultimately want prints then you will get the best possible quality by ordering prints from me.
Q15: I have tried to pay with PayPal but my card is rejected. What should I do?
If PayPal won’t accept your card, the chances are something is “wrong” with the card account (eg: the payment would take you over your limit etc). You can use either a credit card or debit card with PayPal. There is a facility below the PayPal box to pay directly with your bank, ie not through PayPal. I don’t have the facility to take cards over the ‘phone. Assuming you have online banking you can make an online payment from your account directly to my account.
If you wish to make an online payment directly from your bank account to Kimroy Photography please send a request to do so via the Contact page.
Q15a: I don't have a PayPal account, how can I pay?
Continue to PayPal, under the blue login button there is another button, Pay by Credit or Debit Card, click that button and you will bypass PayPal. It will ask you to sign-up with PayPal, ignore the request if you so wish.
Using PayPal does give the buyer extra protection when buying. It doesn’t cost you to use PayPal. It comes down to personal choice. There is no financial benefit to the seller for the buyer to use PayPal.
Q16: How do I buy a package?
From the main menu, Packages drop-down, select Packages and select the Package you require and add to cart. DO NOT PAY FOR IT YET!! Then go to the Gallery, Click on the thumbnail image, this will bring up an enlarged version. Select the size you want, (maximum size is best) Under the image, you will see the "Add to Package" button, click it and select the package you require. Add to Cart. DO NOT GO TO CHECKOUT, DO NOT PAY YET. Return to the gallery, select another image and repeat the procedure until the package is full. THEN go to the checkout and purchase. You will need to be registered and logged in to make a purchase. Click the Kimroy logo at the top of the page. Although I have now put in Navigation buttons on the Navigation bar to either return to the gallery home page or the main site's home page.

Method 1:Hover over Galleries in the main Navbar, a box will appear below, slide your mouse down to it a second box to the right will appear with the year (at this moment in 2020), only 2020 will appear. Another box to the right will appear with 3 choices of event category, move your mouse to the appropriate category, a box will appear to the right, slide your mouse over and down to the event you wish to review. When you reach the event you want another box will appear to the right, make your selection.
Method 2: Click on Galleries in the main nav bar and follow the resulting links by selecting the Year then the category of event, then the event you want and then the category within that event.
Q19: What size image do I need?
All the download images are 300dpi. 500px x 333px=42mmx28mm. 1500px x 1000px=127mmx84mm. 3000px x 2000px=254mmx169mm. 5000px x 3330px=423mmx281mm.
Q20: How can I find images of myself quickly?
There is a search box on the left of the image display where you can enter your name, Blogg-Joe. If the search box is not there, just above the image display there is a check box to show or not show the menu on the left. This search box will search just the gallery you are viewing. To search the whole site use the large search box above the image display. If you make a second search, delete the first search in the box above.
Q21: I bought some credits, what do I do now?
Purchasing credits is a way of getting discounted prices. Having purchased the credits you then go on to select the image(s) you want and when you get to the checkout you are given the choice of using credits or hard currency to pay for the order.
Q22: I can't Sign up!
Your user name must have no spaces and no "illegal" symbols. eg: . , / ? etc
Q23: How do I find an event?
Go to- https://www.kimroy-photography.co.uk/shop3_gallery -In the main menu across the top hover your mouse over Galleries, a drop-down will appear, hover your mouse over the year you want, a further menu will appear, hover over the category that relates to the event you want, a further dropdown will appear hover over the event you want and select the category you will appear in. There is now a short video to show the process. You can access the video from the main menu item Support (Videos)
Q24: I ordered an image and it's pixelated when I enlarge it:
If this is the first time you have placed an order please contact Kimroy Photography using the contact form and it will be sorted out for you.
500x333 px is quite small and only used for avatars. I recommend at least a medium-sized image and if you order a package they are economical. Just remember, you have to fill the package, you can't go back at a later stage and add images once you have gone through Checkout.
Q25: I have ordered a digital file and paid but I haven't received it.
The link to download the image will be sent to you in an email immediately after you pay. If it's not in your Inbox check the spam/junk box. You can also download from your Profile page. If it's in neither of those places please contact Kimroy Photography via the Contact form.
Q26: I have ordered a print and it hasn't arrived.
I try to send prints within a day or so of receiving the order. If the order hasn't arrived within seven days please contact Kimroy Photography via the Contact Form.
Q27: I want to send you an image file.
Please use www.wetransfer.com, there is a free option to use the service but please send a message via the Contact form to tell me that the file is being sent and what you want to do with it.
Q28: If I buy a digital image can I use it on social media?
Yes, you can use it for personal use. If you want to use it for commercial use please buy the appropriate rights package.
Q29: Problem purchasing a Small image:
When I add the item to the cart it shows as £0.00.
Solution: If you select another size and then re-select Small the correct price will show in the cart and you are then able to complete the purchase. The gnomes are working out how to rectify this error.
A workaround has been put in place: A "false" entry has been inserted as the default selection.
Q30: I have gone through the Sign Up process but I can't login.
You should have automatically been sent an email with a link to click to activate your account. Please check your Junk Box but if it is nowhere to be found please use the Contact form to request help. If you make too many failed attempts your IP will be blocked and you won't be able to login even with a new password.
The failure to send the activation email seems to be an intermittant error and it's proving difficult to track down the cause. Use the Contact form to tell me this has happened and I'll activate your account from my end as soon as I am in front of the computer. Can you please also state whether or not you are using a VPN?
Q31: I tried to download my order but it says the file has expired.
File downloads are set to expire after fourteen days. For reasons, which I can't track down, the database takes it upon itself to prematurely mark files as expired. Sometimes I can reinstate the download and sometimes I cannot. If I cannot reinstate the link the images will be emailed to you. If this happens to you it is best to use the Contact form to tell me.
